A.IKANBILIS is a fully autonomous, hovering underwater inspection drone from Singapore-based BeeX — billed as the world's smallest autonomous underwater inspection drone with a fully integrated stack of positioning and perception sensors. Unlike conventional ROVs, it operates with minimal or no operator intervention and, when required, without a tether, using "adaptive autonomy" — onboard intelligence that plans missions, controls propulsion, flags anomalies, and re-plans in real time without constant human oversight or reliable comms. Data is processed through BeeX's Sambal OS/Portal, cutting data transfer requirements by up to 10x versus conventional ROV workflows and delivering full geo-referenced inspection reports after each mission. It's designed to be launched and recovered from autonomous surface vessels, removing the need for large support vessels and dive teams. BeeX has integrated third-party payloads including the Reach Alpha 5 manipulator (for pick-and-place and object recovery) and Water Linked's Sonar 3D-15, and has an active MOU with French sensor company ELWAVE to integrate electromagnetic detection technology for naval and offshore detection missions. Stated applications include offshore wind and nearshore infrastructure inspection, port/terminal/deck mapping, asset integrity inspection at scale, and — for naval customers — ISR, mine-hunting, and seabed intelligence with untethered swarming.
