AI in the Danish Defence: The Path from Technology to Operational Impact

AI is playing an increasingly significant role in the development of the defense of the future, but this raises some fundamental questions. Who owns a country’s data? What should the Danish Defence own and develop themselves, and what makes the most sense to purchase on the market? How do we create a framework that allows Danish companies to contribute to security, while also developing sustainable businesses? And what can we learn from experiences abroad, particularly in Ukraine?

At the same time, there is an important question regarding how we ensure that AI delivers operational effectiveness without eliminating human judgment and the necessary cognitive friction in decision-making processes.
